Following recent successes and company growth, we are delighted to introduce you to our newest members of the ASJ Design team. As a small team with a hands-on approach in a busy working environment, finding the right people to join our growing team was imperative.
Today, we introduce you to Damon and Phoebe, who recently kickstarted their journey with ASJ Design.
Meet Damon
Damon came to us as an Architectural Technician, with many years of experience in our industry. He was keen to get stuck into the diverse range of projects in the ASJ portfolio. No two days are the same; one day he could be surveying with our structural engineers, whilst the next day he could be back at the drawing board finalising a design package in preparation for a planning application.
How does Damon’s role improve the client experience?
Damon’s role has allowed us to bring more of the design and planning process in-house. This has resulted in a seamless process for clients, speeding up the timeline and often opening up additional creative opportunities for our clients and their projects. A fully resourced team from initial concept through full design to delivery really reduces the hassle for our clients.
How is he finding it so far?
Damon says of his experience so far:
"Since joining the team at ASJ Design, I have enjoyed working on a variety of projects, adding my experience and technical knowledge to the pool of skills the team possesses. Having spent nearly two decades working for myself, being part of a team has been really enjoyable and the transition has been made easier due to the regular catch-up meetings we have which allow us to collaborate and plan the weeks ahead.
Working on projects is nothing new to me, but the chance to work on prestigious schemes has been very interesting. Being part of ASJ Design has allowed me to refocus my work life becoming part of something that I hadn’t planned for in the latter part of my career."
Meet Phoebe
Phoebe joins us having recently graduated in Interior Architecture from Oxford Brookes University, which is where Annie, our director at ASJ Design, also studied. Annie has remained in contact with her design lecturer and mentors Oxford Brookes students preparing them for real-world practice. Annie shared the role with this year’s graduates, which is how we found Phoebe – our new junior designer.
Phoebe’s role involves supporting all aspects of our projects from concept to completion, making it a unique and varied designer role where Phoebe can further explore her passion for design. She also supports a variety of day-to-day tasks including social media, supplier relationships and managing the sample library kept in our London-based interior design studio.
How does Phoebe’s role improve the client experience?
Phoebe’s role has not only allowed us more time to focus on output and client experience but has also given us the opportunity to nurture and grow an upcoming designer with a keen eye for detail.
How is she finding it so far?

Working at ASJ Design has allowed me to gain unique experience within the industry. Being part of a small team within a growing company has allowed me to have hands-on experience covering a diverse range of tasks, from the more technical side of drawings and spreadsheets to a more client-focused approach with project management at the forefront. Going from concept to completion is an experience that I will not get anywhere else, which is why it is such a pleasure to work within this team."
